Last session, after everything that had happened, Caspian found Kaz alone by the stairs, clearly weighed down by his thoughts. The two shared a quiet moment, where Caspian reassured him that what he was feeling wasn’t weakness—but proof that he had truly cared. That kind of pain only comes from something real. Kaz admitted he didn’t know how to forget, but Caspian told him he wouldn’t have to—the memories would stay, but in time, they would hurt less.
The moment ended in a tight embrace, and the two eventually returned to their room, where they rested for the night.
Meanwhile, Sofia spoke with Father Lucian about his brother and learned more about vampire spawn—how they are created, and what becomes of them. The knowledge left her with more questions than answers.
The next morning, the 4th of Neyvr began. Avery and Sofia were up early—Avery training while Sofia helped around the inn. A few hours later, Kaz and Caspian woke as well. Kaz noticed the bite marks on Caspian’s neck and gently confronted him about it. After some hesitation, Caspian revealed the truth: on the night his family was slaughtered, a vampire had drained him completely… yet he neither died nor turned.
Kaz attempted to sense anything unnatural within him, but found nothing.
Before the moment could settle, Caspian quickly broke the tension with a small, impulsive gesture—pressing a brief kiss to Kaz’s forehead before slipping away downstairs.
The party regrouped for breakfast and, with their invitation to dinner looming, set out into Vallaki to prepare—seeking proper clothing for the evening ahead.

Caspian followed after Kaz and found him leaning quietly against the wall near the stairs, his posture heavy with thought. Without a word at first, Caspian stepped beside him and rested against the wall as well, letting the silence linger between them.
After a moment, he spoke—softly.
What Kaz was feeling wasn’t weakness. It meant he had cared. Deeply. And that kind of pain didn’t come from nothing.
He repeated the words Kaz’s friend once told him:
A heart doesn’t break like that unless it had something worth breaking for.
And Kaz didn’t have to carry that weight alone—not while Caspian was there.
Kaz, still searching for something to hold onto, asked how he was supposed to forget. The memories. Kazimir’s face. His voice.
Caspian shook his head gently. He wouldn’t forget. Those memories would stay—but, in time, they would grow quieter. Less sharp. Something that lived in the background, instead of consuming him whole.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Then Kaz pulled Caspian into a tight embrace, holding onto him like an anchor. Eventually, they returned to their room, where Caspian helped him out of the rest of his armor. Not long after, they fell asleep, holding each other in the quiet.
Meanwhile, Sofia sought out Lucian and asked about his brother. He revealed that his brother had been turned into a vampire spawn. That answer led to more questions—about what vampire spawn are, how they are created, and what becomes of them.
When the conversation ended, Sofia lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, turning over everything she had learned.
Morning came—the 4th of Neyvr.
Avery and Sofia were the first to wake. Sofia went downstairs to help around the inn, while Avery stayed behind, spending the early hours training in their room.
A couple of hours later, Kaz and Caspian stirred awake.
As Kaz looked over at him, his eyes caught something—faint bite marks along Caspian’s neck. He asked about them gently, reminding him that he didn’t have to hide anything. Not from him.
After a moment of hesitation, Caspian relented.
He told Kaz about that night—the night his family was slaughtered. How one of the vampires had bitten him… had drained him completely. And yet, somehow, he neither died nor turned.
Kaz quietly reached out with his divine sense, searching for anything unnatural within Caspian—but found nothing.
Before either of them could fully process it, Caspian acted on impulse—leaning in to press a quick, fleeting kiss to Kaz’s forehead before darting away, slipping out of the moment and vaulting over the railing as he headed downstairs.
Soon after, the party gathered for breakfast. With the evening ahead of them, they set out into Vallaki to prepare—seeking proper clothing for Kaz and Avery before the dinner they had been invited to attend.
