15 Among the books was a record of the dead and missing. As they skimmed through it, they found an entry about Izek’s sister—marked as dead under unknown circumstances. Her name was Ireena.
15 The realization struck quickly. The Ireena they had been escorting all this time… was the very same sister Izek had lost. Suddenly, his obsession made sense—the dolls, the fixation, all of it.
14 Inside, they were greeted by a cheerful man with a monkey perched on his shoulders. He introduced himself as Gadof Blinsky, the shop’s owner. The shelves were packed with toys—though many looked more unsettling than suitable for children. Caspian took the lead, asking if Gadof Blinsky had something appropriate for a ten-year-old girl. The toymaker guided them to a shelf of dolls. Among them stood a striking replica of Strahd and another red-haired doll that bore an uncanny resemblance to Ireena. When questioned, Gadof Blinsky explained that Izek commissions a custom doll each month—and this month’s was the redhead. Unsettled, the party chose a doll that seemed relatively normal and made their purchase.
13 With the bones recovered, Father Lucian and Ireena agreed to carry them safely back to St. Andral’s Church. The party, battered but resolute, left the shop behind and turned their attention to whatever troubles awaited them next in Vallaki.
12 After their tense encounter with the Baron Vargas Vallakovich, the party escorted Ireena toward St. Andral’s Church, hoping to secure her safety. As they entered the church grounds, Caspian narrowly avoided colliding with a passerby—only to sidestep another person who stumbled and spilled a handful of nails across the ground. The flustered man introduced himself as Henrik van der Voort, the local coffin maker and occasional carpenter. He mentioned that his shop was located at the south end of the Arasek Stockyard before hurrying off.
12 Inside the church, the party approached Father Lucian Petrovich, the priest of St. Andral’s Church. Avery led the conversation, explaining that they had been sent by Shaggy to escort Ireena here for protection. The discussion was interrupted by Milivoj, who regarded the party with open hostility. He asked whether Father Lucian wanted him to escort “these outsiders” from the church grounds. Father Lucian dismissed the suggestion and ordered Milivoj away.
12 Once alone, Father Lucian revealed troubling news. The church had long been protected as hallowed ground by the blessed bones of St. Andral, preventing vampires from entering. However, the bones had been stolen the previous night. Unless they were recovered before the Festival of St. Andral, the protective ward would fail, leaving both the church and Ireena vulnerable. He also admitted that the only person he had told about the bones was an eight-year-old altar boy named Yeska.
12 With Father Lucian and Ireena in tow, the party made their way to Henrik the Coffin Maker’s Shop. Every window was boarded over, preventing any view inside. Caspian attempted to pick the locks on both the front and back doors, only to find them already destroyed after Henrik refused to let them in. In response, Avery kicked in the back door.
11 Ireena pleaded with him to grant shelter to the refugees outside the walls, but the Baron rejected the request without hesitation. Kaz rose and, with carefully measured politeness, insulted the Baron while questioning why he did not simply attack the being the townsfolk called “the devil.” The Baron insisted that his upcoming festival—only four days away—would keep the Devil at bay. He invited the party to attend as honored guests, then took his leave with the chilling reassurance: “All will indeed be well.” The party was left alone in the meeting room, the weight of his words hanging heavily in the air.
11 After battling numerous enemies on the road, the party finally arrived at the gates of Vallaki. Outside the walls, a refugee camp sprawled along the roadside. There, Ireena chose to part from the group temporarily, promising to reunite with them in the morning after speaking with people in the camp.
11 The mansion’s windows were sealed behind heavy drapes, casting the interior in dim light. A maid escorted the group to a meeting room, where they waited until the Baron entered with his mastiffs and his right-hand man. He greeted Ireena warmly and dismissed the rest of the party as her hired guards.

11 With little time to dwell on it, the trio set out for their appointment at the Baron’s mansion. Outside, they witnessed a disturbing scene: the Baron, flanked by two mastiffs and a man with a grotesquely altered arm (in the future to be known as Izek Strazni), was publicly reprimanding a woman(Willemina Rikalova) for splashing mud onto his clothing. Ireena joined the party moments later, and the guards admitted them inside.

07 In front of them is a large black carriage drawn by two black horses, in the coach box the players see a man which Ireena identifies as Escher gasping that he should be dead. Escher steps down and opens the door of the carriage and out comes a man, Strahd von Zarovich. He looks around and greets all of the players and some conversation begins, he asks the players quite a few hypothetical questions. At the end of his questioning he gets challenged by Kaz and they decide to fight.

06 When they arrive in the mansion they find Kolyan dead with a long, elegant slash across his chest on the floor and Ireena unconscious with vampire bite marks in her neck. When Ireena wakes up she mourns her father's death. Marianne questions Ireena what happened, she explains that her father, in a seemingly hypnotized state, invited someone inside the house. Her memory is otherwise blank.
04 Ireena gives the players the crate of "fire bottles" which they take to the eastern Barricade where Bildrath and his nephew Parriwimple are waiting to prepare for the night.
04 As the players arrive at the mansion there is an angry mob in front. It seems the leader of the mob Alenka, is trying to get Kolyan to allow them to sacrifice Ireena to the "Devil Strahd" in hopes of stopping his attacks.
04 The players manage to do some crowd control with a successful persuasion by Avery with help from Caspian. They get invited into the mansion by Ireena and Kolyan where they all eat Lunch together while talking and looking at a small dilemma the burgomaster has been facing.
04 They learn that Ireena was found by Kolyan when she was a young child out in the woods.
