In comes Sophia
- When the party woke, the morning air was cool and quiet, broken only by the crackle of the campfire and the soft clatter of breakfast being prepared. As they gathered around the flames, a stranger stepped into the edge of the clearing. A young woman with a confident stride approached the camp and introduced herself as Sophia Voron.
- She joined them at the fire without hesitation, speaking easily and smiling as though she already belonged there. It didn’t take long for the party to learn she was one of the Vistani — a revelation that immediately cast a shadow of suspicion over the group. The mood tightened. Eyes narrowed. Hands hovered a little closer to weapons.
- Despite the tension, Caspian greeted her warmly. The two fell into conversation with surprising ease, their flirtatious banter flowing naturally. Sophia matched his charm without missing a beat, and their laughter contrasted sharply with the rest of the party’s guarded silence.
- Kaz was the first to voice what many were thinking. He accused Sophia outright of serving Strahd. The camp went still. Sophia's smile vanished, replaced by sharp indignation as she denied the accusation without hesitation. Her response was firm, almost offended, and after a tense exchange the party slowly eased — not trusting her, but no longer on the brink of hostility.
- The calm didn’t last long. Soon Sophia and Avery were locked in a heated argument of their own, voices rising over the fire as the rest of the camp pretended not to listen. Meanwhile, Caspian and Kaz sat shoulder to shoulder, passing a bottle of wine between them and watching the confrontation unfold like reluctant spectators.
- As the others began packing up camp in preparation for the journey to Vallaki — Sophia now traveling with them whether everyone liked it or not — Caspian stretched out on a rug beside Kaz. The argument faded into background noise, replaced by the quiet rhythm of breaking camp and the uneasy sense that their group had just grown more complicated.
